February 2013 Recipe


Valentine's Day Healthy Treat!
Strawberries and Cream Cinnamon Snack

Ingredients
2 tablespoon Cream Cheese (reduced fat)
4 medium Strawberries, sliced
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1 teaspoon raw sugar or honey
1/8 Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
4 slices of thin whole grain bread (1/4” – 1/2” slices) - approx. 4” diameter (*great alternative is sandwich wrap)

Directions
Brush olive oil on top layer of bread
Sprinkle on cinnamon and sugar mixture, very lightly. Then spread with brush to even out.
Place in broiler for approximately 2 minutes.
Let bread cool for 5 minutes then spread cream cheese on each slice.
Top 2 slices with sliced strawberries, then place other bread slice on top (cinnamon side down).
Cut in half and serve.

Tips
** When choosing whole grain wraps or bread, look for more than 3 grams Fiber, and less than 1 gram sugar per 100 calorie or less serving, and try to choose all natural ingredients.
